Ladies Who Lunch
For women who prefer to meet during the day.
FRAZZLED & FRIENDS
Somewhere in the middle of a busy life, real connection becomes surprisingly hard to find and often maintain.
I’M INTERESTED
You might already have friends, people you love and have known for years. But everyone has busy lives, and organising catch ups can take weeks to make happen, all while months disappear between seeing each other.
And meeting new friends as a grown woman?
Where on earth are you supposed to find them?
You don’t have little ones, so a mother’s group is no longer an option. And while there may be a perfectly friendly looking woman on the treadmill next to you at the gym, you’re probably not going to lean over and ask if she’d like to be your friend.
You might not work somewhere that naturally brings new people into your life, or maybe you’ve moved, and everywhere you look it seems like people are content in their previously formed groups where everyone is already familiar.
They have history. They have in jokes. Not only that, but they already know who is who, and you’re left feeling like you are stuck at the edge wondering how long you have to keep turning up before you stop feeling like the new girl.
Finding real friends is not the same as dating. There isn’t always an obvious place to go and find your people.
I want to help make finding your place a little easier.
Frazzled & Friends brings five women together with me for three months, giving you the chance to get to know a small group of women you might never have ordinarily crossed paths with.
I’ll organise the group, the calls and the conversation when it needs a nudge. Your part is showing up and being open and willing to get to know the other lovely women in your group. You don’t need to have loads in common.
Everyone starts their group as a stranger, so nobody is trying to break into an established group or work out if they’ve made it into the group.
I can’t promise you’ll meet your new best friend. What I can do is introduce you to five women, give you somewhere easy and intimate to keep meeting, and take care of the organising that so often stops friendships from forming or growing.
We’ll meet regularly over three months, with a private group chat in between.
Enough time to get beyond introductions and begin to know one another properly.
To know whose teenager is driving them bonkers. Who has the job interview on Thursday. Who is trying to decide whether to move house. Who had the argument with her husband and needs to tell you what happened next.
To share, connect and laugh.
The groups will have no networking, coaching, courses or homework.
Join for regular conversations with a small group of women you might never have crossed paths with otherwise.
These groups are for the mums in the middle years of motherhood and life. Your children are growing up, hormones may be changing, and with family, work, relationships and everything else you carry, making and maintaining your own friendships has become difficult and you’re seeking connection for yourself.
You don’t need to be having a perimenopausal nightmare or have exactly the same family setup as everyone else. But these aren’t general friendship groups for women of every age and stage. They’re for the women I work with: mums somewhere in that messy middle.
A small group of women you might never have ordinarily crossed paths with.
Weekly calls for the first month, then fortnightly. One-hour online calls and a private WhatsApp chat between calls.
For the full three months.
Maybe wanting new friends or connections is a new thing, or maybe it’s been on the to do list for months or even years.
It’s another one of those ‘shoulds’. You should get out there more, meet new people, make more of an effort. Yet life gets in the way, the weeks fly by, and eventually that feeling of wanting more connection comes around again.
And perhaps you’ll meet someone amazing by chance. It can happen.
But if you’ve been wanting to meet new people, there is something to be said for giving yourself the chance rather than waiting for the opportunity to come along.
Perhaps Frazzled & Friends could be one of those chances.
Making friends shouldn’t be complicated, but finding opportunities to make them isn’t always easy.
It’s surprisingly easy for another month, another year, to pass while you keep meaning to get out there and meet new people. And in that time nothing changes.
Frazzled & Friends gives you a chance to do something about that: the same small group of women, meeting regularly over three months, with time to move past the awkward first hellos and actually get to know one another.
I can’t promise friendships. But I can offer you a place to start, rather than another year of wishing you had.
You'll probably be in good company!
Meeting new people can be awkward, especially when you haven't done it for a while.
Everyone starts as a stranger, so there's no established group to try to fit into. I'll help with introductions and keep things moving until everyone starts finding their feet.
You don’t need to be the most confident or loudest person but you do need to be willing to show up, join in and give it a go even when it feels awkward.
That's always a possibility. I can't promise you'll find your new best friend, or even that everyone will get along brilliantly.
But you don't necessarily need loads in common to enjoy someone's company.
I'll bring together women in a similar stage of life, and we'll have three months to get to know one another beyond those first impressions.
You might be surprised by who you connect with.
Ideally, yes. The groups are small, so when someone isn't there, it makes a difference.
You'll know the dates in advance, and I'm asking everyone to make a genuine effort to attend.
Of course, life happens. I'm a mother of four, so I understand that plans sometimes go out the window!
But if you already know you won't be able to make most of the calls, this probably isn't the right time to join.
That's up to you and the other women.
By then, you'll have spent three months getting to know each other, and hopefully you'll want to keep in touch.
You can continue chatting, arrange your own calls or meet up if you live nearby.
I'll help with the handover at the end, but there's no obligation to keep the group going.
And there's no ongoing membership fee.
No, but the calls will be organised around Australian time zones.
If you're somewhere else in the world and the times work for you, you're welcome to apply.
The groups meet online, so you can join from home, wherever that happens to be.
Frazzled & Friends is about connection, not counselling or therapy.
If you’re looking for professional support, I’ve put together some helpful resources on our Mental Health Support Page.
